StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty Video Game: Gameplay Features and Storyline Overview

StarCraft 2: Wings of Liberty is the sequel to StarCraft which was a very entertaining video game. Blizzard has retained their gameplay style in this version and then added some very significant improvements to their gaming interface and stunning graphics that bring about vast visual improvements to the characters and gameplay scenery. With improved gameplay strategies, Jim Raynor, the legendary character, returns to lead an insurgent group against the Terrans and the whole story plays out in the form of thirty challenging missions.

A three part epic saga: StarCraft 2 is a three part game set in the 26th century in a distant part of the Milky Way galaxy. The Wings of Liberty is the first part which was released in July 2010 and focuses on the Terrans, who are human exiles from Earth. The second part is the Heart of the Swarm, released in 2011, which is about the Zergs who are a super-species of insect-like creatures. The third and the final part is the Legacy of the Void, which is scheduled to be released in 2012. The third part focuses on the Protoss who are an advanced species with superior mental ability.

A strategic challenge: The game requires the player to accumulate resources and carefully locate the construction of units and structures to defend imminent attacks from the enemy in order to win new territory. The three races in the StarCraft universe include Alien Protoss, Human Terrans, and the insect-like Zergs. Each race has its inherent strengths and weaknesses which makes the whole game extremely competitive. For example, the Zergs are weaker and have significantly less armour than the Protoss or Terrans, but their speedy building skills and vast expanse of numbers can rapidly overwhelm the other races. Hence, the player is required to account for the different strengths and weaknesses of each race to get the upper hand against his enemies.

The legend continues: The StarCraft series' first instalment was released in 1998 and managed to sell more than 11 million copies all over the world. As is only logical, the Wings of Liberty and the other following two parts are expected to easily supersede the greatness that the first version achieved. In addition to the single player campaign of the new instalments, there will also be a highly sophisticated multiplayer mode that is expected to be the primary reason why the new versions would go a mile further than the first instalment. With the first instalment already in the market and doing very well, it is expected that the series will achieve a lot more than the initial expectations of it.
